I earned a Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Capella University, a program that is accredited with the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists. Marriage and Family Therapy is an approach that emphasizes the relationships of our lives and how these interconnections affect our daily lives.
I interned at the Agape Counseling Center in Indianapolis, IN, where I gained experience in the following areas:
- Marriage counseling with couples who are in conflict, where there has been infidelity, and addiction.
- Anxiety and agoraphobia counseling
- Groups for those addicted to drugs and alcohol.
- Parent-child conflicts
- Depression and low self-esteem
- Spiritual questions and doubts
- Grief counseling
- Youth who have been using drugs
As a pastor, I have guided several clients through pre-marital counseling in preparation for their new life together.
I have also worked in a drug and alcoholism center to go through steps 4 and 5 of the AA program.
I have taken the first two courses in the Gottman Couples Therapy program and have used these materials to help couples communicate in more healthy ways.
I am a licensed Associate Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with the state of Illinois (License No. 208.000438).
I am a pre-clinical member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists
I am a pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. I have been an ordained pastor for over 40 years. I earned a Masters of Divinity degree from Luther Seminary in St. Paul, MN.
